An event for collaboration between the Kurdistan Health Workers Syndicate and Tehran University of Medical Sciences was held in Erbil.

As part of the union’s programs to advance the academic level of nurses and healthcare employees, and within ongoing efforts to provide better services, on September 24, 2025, a special ceremony was held following a reception at Taran University for Medical Sciences in the Sheraton Hotel Hall. The event was organized with the participation of the Union Chairperson, Deputy Chairperson, senior team members, department heads, and representatives from the union’s administrative and operational teams.

The ceremony began with a moment of silence in honor of the martyrs, followed by a welcome speech from the Union Chairperson, Jabar Muhammad Rahim. Subsequently, the Deputy Chairperson, Isa Khanu, and Professor Dr. Hamdiya Mirxan presented the agenda of the cooperation between the union and Taran University, including the structure and methodology of medical studies.

Representatives of Taran University explained in detail the academic programs and opportunities available for nurses and healthcare workers from the Kurdistan Region of Iraq and Iran. Additionally, representatives from the Iranian Health Authority provided clarifications regarding practical aspects of workplace training and academic programs. Several questions from the attendees were directed to the university representatives.

According to the memorandum of understanding between the union and Taran University, apart from specific agreements regarding tuition fees, the arrangements cover visa issuance, accommodation, residency, and all necessary administrative procedures for enrollment. The program ensures that nurses and healthcare employees can pursue advanced studies (Master’s and Doctorate levels) at the university through the union’s representation and support.
